Booking a hotel

General
How can services be paid for?
- When booking a hotel, you pay directly and easily at the hotel itself. Your credit card will only be debited if you do not show up without cancelling the booking within the required period. Please click here for information regarding cancellation periods for hotel bookings.
- Hamburg Travel collects monies on behalf of the respective organiser for all services other than hotel bookings. Therefore you pay Hamburg Travel directly by credit card or direct debit. The date when your credit card or bank account is to be debited will be displayed before concluding the booking.
- You will also receive payment information during the booking.
Which credit cards are accepted?
- If you book a service that is to be paid for at the hotel, which credit cards are accepted will depend on the respective hotel. Tips on which credit cards are accepted by which hotel can be found on the corresponding hotel info site.
- If you book a service that is to be billed by Hamburg Travel, then you have the opportunity to pay with the following credit cards:
- Visacard
- Eurocard/Mastercard
- American Express
How can I cancel a booking?
- You can cancel bookings at the Hamburg Travel Service Centre on +49 (0)40 68 99 98 99 (Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Cancellation periods for the individual services and any arising costs can be found in the booking tips or applicable General Terms and Conditions of your booking, which are referred to in your booking.
What happens after booking? How and when will I receive my documentation?
- You will receive booking confirmation from us by e-mail. The confirmation contains all the relevant details. Please present the confirmation to your service provider/hotel.
- If you have booked admission tickets, we will send these to you by post to the address you have specified. If there are less than 5 days between the date of booking and the date of the event we are unfortunately unable to send tickets by post. In this case tickets can be collected from the Tourist Information at Hamburg's main railway station (Hauptbahnhof). Should you have any questions, please contact the Hamburg Travel Service Centre on +49 (0)40 68 99 98 99 (Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.).
What are early booker offers?
- Early booker offers provide you with particularly attractive conditions. There must be at least 12 weeks between the date of booking and the date of arriving. Special cancellation conditions apply.
What are last-minute offers?
- Last-minute offers provide you with particularly attractive conditions. There must be no more than 4 days between the date of booking and the date of arriving. Special cancellation conditions apply.
What is the Hamburg CARD?
- The Hamburg CARD ? The ticket to discover the city. With the Hamburg CARD you can travel anywhere you like in Hamburg and also save a packet when it comes to seeing the sights, going on tours and visiting theatres and museums! More information can be found here.
How can services be booked other than via the Internet?
- You can book by telephone at the Hamburg Travel Service Centre on +49 (0)40 68 99 98 99 (Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.).
How safe is the transmission of my credit card or bank card details?
- For the benefit of the user we use secure technology: During the booking you navigate a secure area. Your details are protected from attack by third parties thanks to SSL encryption. Encryption means that the characters you enter are converted into a code which can be securely transferred via the Internet.
What are the benefits of booking with Hamburg Travel?
- Hamburg Travel offers you a large selection of Hamburg's attractions from one source. From small family-run guest houses right up to the luxury hotels of the superior class. Choose the right place to stay from over 160 hotels and guest houses. We also offer the latest last-minute rates and special offers on a daily basis with a particular extra. The programme is extended further by trips that can be exclusively compiled on the day. 37 tourist services and 24 all-inclusive packages can be booked with a selection of hotels. Depending on your personal preferences you can select your itinerary with us.
Who is the provider "Hamburg Travel"?
- Hamburg Travel is your online agent which provides you with a whole range of tourist services from various organisers within the metropolitan area of Hamburg. Hamburg Travel itself is not an organiser of the services provided. Contractual conditions regarding utilisation and realisation of services are agreed entirely between yourself and the respective organiser.
How do you book services for groups of more than six people?
- Booking online is not possible. Please use our online form for this purpose. Our staff will make you an offer which is tailor-made to your requirements, usually within 24 hours.
How do you book a stay lasting more than 14 days?
- Booking online is not possible. Please use our online form for this purpose. Our staff will contact you as soon as possible.
What discounts are available e.g. for children, students or OAPs?
- Discounts depend on the service booked and the respective provider. If a discount is provided, the level and corresponding conditions will be displayed during the booking process.

Booking a hotel
How many hotels are available in the system?
- There are approx. 160 hotels available for booking in and around Hamburg.
Is it only possible to book hotel chains in the system or are there are also individual hotels?
- Yes, there is also a large selection of small hotels available for booking, alongside the hotel chains.
What are the standard extras and premium extras of a hotel booking?
- The following extras are standard extras :
- Daily newspaper
- Fruit bowl
- Mineral water
- Internet access
- Premium extras are all other extras such as e.g.:
- Parking space in the garage
- Use of the mini-bar
- Welcome cocktail
Will my credit card by debited immediately after booking a hotel?
- If you only book a hotel, you pay directly and easily at the hotel itself. Your credit card will only be debited if you do not show up without cancelling the booking within the required period.
How can I find accommodation and offers suitable for the disabled?
- On the search screen, click on "show other search criteria" and choose the search criterion "room suitable for wheelchairs". As a result, only offers matching this criterion will be shown in the results list.
